Digital Security for Organizers of Color, hosted by The Kairos Fellowship and Bex Hong Hurwitz (Tiny Gigantic)
Session Type(s): Special Event
Starts: Wednesday, Aug. 1 2:00 PM (Eastern)
Ends: Wednesday, Aug. 1 5:00 PM (Eastern)
Join us for a half-day workshop open to organizers of color who are using the internet to spread messages and amplify strategies. Good online organizing strategy includes safety and security strategies that consider impacts on organizers, participants, and those affected by the organizing. Strategy rooted in racial equity considers the relative impacts on people of color in experiencing safety and security issues. Participants will leave the day with an increased understanding of common and current risks in online organizing, tools for analyzing relationships between race and gender and safety, and hands-on experience developing personal, operational, and collective strategies for safer online organizing.
Ice cream and coffee will be provided.
