Tired of elected officials ignoring your press conferences, rallies and email blasts? Learn new disruptive and asymmetric strategies and tactics to effectively overcome better financed and entrenched special interests to change public policy in the legislative arena. These strategies and tactics were developed over the course of passing landmark environmental legislation in California to protect sharks, condors, and elephants. This training will help you find your opposition’s weak spots and provide you with the new media, messaging and legislative strategy skills necessary to win when the odds are heavily against you.
Bill Wong is a political strategist and expert in legislative strategy with over 25 years of experience. Bill played a key role in the effort to pass legislation to put a critical $7.5 billion water bond on the California ballot in 2014 that will fund the preservation of coasts and wetlands while providing clean drinking water to disadvantaged communities. Bill devised a successful strategy that led to the passage of a California ban on the sale of shark fin that contributed to a 70% decline in shark fin consumption. He also overcame intense opposition from the gun lobby and passed legislation protecting condors from lead ammunition poisoning and he is currently working on passing a ban on ivory trafficking. Bill previously served as Chief of Staff to State Assembly Member Anthony Rendon, Assembly Member Judy Chu, State Senator Hilda L. Solis, and Legislative Director to Assembly Member Mike Honda.
