Ellen Bravo directs Family Values @ Work, a network of coalitions in 21 states working for – and winning -- paid sick days and family and medical leave insurance. Before helping start FV@W, Ellen headed 9to5. Her most recent book is Taking on the Big Boys, or Why Feminism is Good for Families, Business and the Nation. Ellen served on the bi-partisan Commission on Leave appointed by Congress to study the impact of the FMLA. She’s on the boards of Working America and the National Domestic Workers Alliance. Described as “moving, witty and sometimes bawdy,” Ellen writes regularly for Huffington Post, Ms. blog, the Broad Side and other sites. Among her commendations are a Ford Foundation Visionary award. Ellen lives in Milwaukee with her husband; they have two adult sons. Her novel on date rape and politics, Again and Again, will be published in August.
