Ellery is the editor of Global Voices Advocacy. A project of the Global Voices online citizen media network, Global Voices Advocacy promotes free expression and privacy online by reporting on challenges, victories and emerging trends in Internet rights around the world. Before joining GVA, Ellery worked as a policy analyst with the Center for Democracy & Technology, where she managed a range of free expression and Internet governance-focused research and advocacy projects for CDT's international program. Ellery has a master's degree in public policy and Latin American studies from the University of Chicago, where she developed deep expertise in the politics and policies of Internet use in Cuba.
