Jay Smooth is a veteran hip-hop DJ, cultural commentator and video producer for Race Forward (raceforward.org). In 1991 Jay founded New York’s longest running hip-hop radio show, WBAI's "Underground Railroad," and since 2007 is best known for his award-winning video commentary series at Illdoctrine.com. Jay's video commentaries, including his latest for Race Forward, "Moving The Race Conversation Forward," have become part of the curriculum in many schools and universities, and been featured by NPR, CNN and MSNBC where Rachel Maddow hailed him as a “genius.”
