Michael V. Nixon, is a public interest environmental & cultural resources protection lawyer, strategist & consultant based in Portland, OR & Pittsburgh, PA. J.D., Lewis & Clark Law School, Portland OR; B.A., Anthropology, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh PA. Michael concentrates on Indigenous sacred places and landscape, riverscape & habitat protection. Michael is Chair of the grassroots national nonprofit Citizens Coal Council, and is lead counsel for Apache Stronghold in the Apache Stronghold v. U.S. case to protect the Western Apache Sacred Place of 'Oak Flat' and Apache 1852 Treaty land from a proposed global copper mine. Michael's various preservation projects have included Enola Hill, OR (Klicikitat, Clackamas, Yakama, Wasco, et al.), Mt. Graham, AZ (Apache), Spirit Hill, WI (Sokaogon Chippewa), and Native Lands Heritage Park, PA (Susquehannock).
